Use of Dog Harness

Tuesday, December 6th, 2011

In controlling our dogs, we impulsively pull them back on their leashes. This can essentially produce a stroke that can afterwards injure your dog’s neck and chest. By means of obtaining a dog harness instead of a dog collar, you can train your dog unharmed. Harnesses work by putting resistance on a dog’s delicate parts to avoid injury. An excellent idea in allowing your dog utilize the harness is to make him get familiar with it. The harness’ fit can be repellent to a dog. You may as well desire to train him to make more constructive walks sooner or later. When you buy a harness, it will be an excellent idea to carry your dog along. Look at the fit of the harness. Unwell fitted harnesses are able to injure your dog. Know the appropriate way to measure your dog first. If you believe you can’t obtain this right, purchase an adjustable dog harness.

Friday, December 2nd, 2011

If you choose to buy cheap dog food for your pet, most likely it is made up of ingredients that are in low quality. The protein source from this inexpensive dog food is usually made up of kidneys, lungs or brains of slaughtered animals.

However, if you buy a pet food with good quality ingredients, the price is usually more expensive. But this is not always the case. Behavior Training May Be the Answer to Your Dog Trouble

Sunday, October 9th, 2011

A dog may elicit a lot of redirected aggression whenever its focus shifts from the target to a third party. Redirected aggression in dogs will occur when a dog is aroused or displays aggression towards a person or an animal and someone else happens to come in the middle of the dog and its intended target. The dog redirects its aggression from the original reason that triggered it to the person or animal that has interfered. That is why people are often bitten when they try to break up dog fights. When a person grabs or pushes a fighting dog, the dog might suddenly turn and lash at him. Another example is when two dogs are barking at someone from behind a fence. In some instances they will turn and attack each other. Male and female dogs are equally prone to redirected aggression, and this type of aggression occurs in both puppies and adults. Behavior training may be the answer to your dog’s trouble.

Been Running Errands for My New Boss

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

I do not really know what I should do, but of course I am only doing what I am told. It seems to me that my boss could get into a lot of trouble for making me do all of his personal errands for him, but I am just following orders. Of course they would send me home otherwise, because things are slow and have been slow and because I am the low man on the totem pole right now. Hank keeps talking about how he is going to quit and move to New York City, which would be okay with me since I know how to do his job and it pays a lot better. Right now I am picking up a lot of pet products for the boss’ hunting dogs. At least he gave me some money to put gas in my truck, well he gave me the company credit card and told me to only use it for gas.

Why You Are Experiencing Puppy Biting

Thursday, August 11th, 2011

So many new pet owners who find themselves struggling with puppy behavioral problems such as puppy biting do not know what caused this behavior. They tend to believe that something that they did in the training caused the puppy to begin biting. You need to realize that your puppy is not going to just start biting for no reason at all.

This is not true; nothing that you do will cause a puppy to begin biting. Unless of course you are constantly teasing them and trying to make them angry. Most puppies will begin to pick up the puppy biting behavior when they are playing.

A puppy is known to be very playful and when they become overly excited they begin biting. They do not mean to cause any harm to anyone; but if you have ever been bit by a puppy then you know that they have extremely sharp teeth that can be very painful.

Signs of Fleas Even with Cheap Frontline

Sunday, July 3rd, 2011

What are some signs that your dog may have flea problems? This question gets asked me a lot because people really aren’t aware of what constitutes a flea problem. They assume that if they use a product like cheap Frontline they will never have to worry about fleas again.

In reality, it is a little bit different. Some people say the first sign that your dog has fleas is that they are you see grumpier nervous. This is soon followed by a lot of intense scratching and skin irritation. Some people find pink welts on the belly that may eventually crust over.

I usually try to focus on the head and neck as fleas typically like these areas. Another area I frequently watch for is on the rump at the base of the tail. Whenever I try to search for fleas, I use a method for searching that involves a manual search throughout the entire dog.

Once I find fleas, I will typically switch to a different type of flea medicine to see if that will resolve the issue. Sometimes cheap frontline for dogs will be able to cut it out another version will.

Buying the Organic Cat Food

Friday, May 13th, 2011

We need to do a little bit of research before settling down to one brand of organic cat food. There are many companies dealing with the organic cat food. When the foods are not termed as organic, it can be ruled out form our options. From the ingredients, we cannot get an idea whether it is grown organically or non-organically. We can get some guidance from the veterinarian and based on the suggestion, we can decide the best cat food. We need to check out on the reviews or the blogs for the ratings and we also need to find some information from the online forums. Those who are cat lovers and care for the benefit of the cats, will surely share the best information on the quality cat foods that can be fed. The websites or the product information panel also provides adequate information on the cat foods that are of the organic type.

Taking Care of a Stray Dog Was Really Something

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

We once took in a stray dog. We bathed him, fed him and basically adopted him. Contrary to how we picked him up, he always used to find his way home. For years. Until one day when he was already older. For some reason, he was not able to make it home. We gave it some days thinking he would somehow get back home. Though he was much older than when we first took him in, he was not that old yet as to not see his way or remember his way back.

We could only surmise that he might have been caught by the dog pound. Till now, it brings tears to our eyes thinking of that stray dog that made its way to our hearts. Though he was originally a stray dog, he was like no other. He was highly-trainable. We were even able to potty train him; he had his own Potty Patch which he was able to use up until he didn’t make it home anymore.

A Special Place for a Loved Pet

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

Losing pets is a difficult time for a loving pet owner to go through. I love my pets and want them to have a special memorial when they pass away. I have lost two pets over the years, my dog named Clifton, and my cat named Squeakster. Pet memorials are an important way that pet lovers can honor their beloved companions. There are many choices for a memorial. For example, if one chooses to have their pet cremated, there are a variety of customizeable urns and urn statues that one can place their pet’s remains into. A small plaque can be attached that illustrates the name of the pet and any other information that an owner might want people to remember and know about their pet. If owners choose to bury their pet, there are several memorial stones available that can be made to show a picture of the pet and their name and information. I personally chose to have my pets cremated so I can keep their urns with me.

Dog Seizures and How to Cope with It

Tuesday, March 8th, 2011

Dog seizures can be very difficult to treat especially if the cause of the problem is a lifetime medical condition like epilepsy or mental abnormalities. But with the right care and maintenance, you will definitely be able to help your dog cope with this medical problem. One of the easiest and simplest ways to help your dog cope with seizures is through administering the appropriate medications and drugs for him. If your dog needs to take a specific drug or medicine on a specific time of day, you need to give it to him on time so that he will not be vulnerable to seizure attacks. Also, giving him a healthy diet like a raw dog food diet can help a lot in keeping him healthy and strong. It is also important that you keep your pet from all possible triggers of seizures in dogs like extreme emotions, extreme temperatures, and injuries. That way, you will be able to efficiently cope with seizures and you can protect your dog from the harmful effects of the medical problem.

The Most Common Dog Skin Problems

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

A healthy animal will also have healthy skin. If dog skin problems occur, it generally indicates that the dog has an underlying condition. These conditions can be caused by multiple factors, including infections, pests, and allergies. Stress or metabolic disorders can also create problems. When a pets external appearance noticeably worsens in any way, medical help should be sought. Letting conditions become chronic can cause further damage to the health of a pet. In addition, some untreated conditions are contagious and can infest other animals. Some can even be passed to humans.

Determining whether a dog has skin problems can be done in different ways. One of these is observation. If a pet is scratching itself frantically or repeatedly chewing on or licking itself, this should not be dismissed. A suffering pet may also rub up on furniture or against carpets. These behaviors should inspire owners to take a closer look.

Lesions, rashes, bald spots, scaly patches or scabs are reasons to notify a veterinarian. Additional reasons include discoloration, lumps, swelling, pus, blood or redness. Multiple conditions are possible causes of most symptoms. Therefore, a professional needs to conduct tests to identify and then properly treat each animal.

Pests may be the source of problems. The bites and droppings of fleas can create lingering irritation. Some pets may even be allergic to the saliva in a flea bite, making matters worse. In addition to this, certain flea control methods readily available on the market can be aggravating.

All kinds of infections can occur on the skin. Fungal, bacterial, or yeast infections are all possibilities. Ringworm is a common type of fungal infection. It manifests itself in bald spots, scaly patches and irritation. If these are observed, the animal should be taken in for treatment immediately. Ringworm is highly contagious and can be transmitted to both pets and humans. Any infections caused by bacteria or yeast signal a more serious underlying problem. Both normally occur only when skin has already been damaged in some other way.

Allergies impact skin health as well. These may occur due to outdoor irritants or specific foods. Seasonal allergies improve or worsen depending on the time of year and the concentration of circling substances. These substances may include grass, dust, pollen or mold. Common food allergies include reactions to soy, wheat, corn, chicken or beef. It is also possible for a pet to be allergic to food additives like colorings.

Problems may also have a behavioral component. A dog living in a very loud environment may experience heightened levels of stress. As a result, it may lick and gnaw at itself. It can also perform the same behaviors simply if it is bored. This is one reason why daily exercise and attention are very important for pets.

Most dog skin problems avoidable. Preventative measures include using only products on your dog that were intended for animals. In addition, a hypoallergenic diet free of synthetic or empty ingredients is very important. Dogs should be kept in calm and quiet environments, and in clean conditions. This will prevent the animal from high levels of stress and make its surroundings less pest friendly. Methods to further prevent infestations by pests can be provided by a veterinarian.

Preferring a Cat Scratching Post to Declawing As a Solution to the Hostile Cat Scratching Habit

Monday, December 20th, 2010

We must admit: cats’ scratching behavior is at times hostile and very destructive. Cat owners deal with this in different ways. Resentful and traumatized ones immediately go to a veterinarian to declaw their pet. Declawing is very detrimental to the health of a cat. It causes them stress and makes them feel weary and abnormal.

Luckily, there are some cat owners who are in a good light; they tolerate cats’ scratching behavior because they know this is healthy and quite natural. Instead of declawing their cats, they just provide them with cat scratching post. This post understands the value of scratching for cats. Various types of cat scratching posts are now available on the market. They are 100 percent affordable, durable and pet-friendly. Cat owners should know that there is a better way than declawing a cat. Declawing steals cats their right to exercise their natural scratching behavior and live a balanced normal life.

The Importance of Having a Good Drainage System in Your Horse Stable

Tuesday, October 26th, 2010

Most stable owners are aware that choosing the right rubber matting products and having a good drainage system are important in setting up a horse stable. The life span of the bedding would actually depend on how good the drainage system is. If the urine or any kind of liquid drains through the mats rather than resting on top of them, the amount of bedding that is soiled is lessened. Resulting to reduced amount of time required to clean the stall. The amount of bedding replacement is also reduced.

Things mentioned above are all important benefits, but we also must think about what happens to the urine once it has drained through the mats. If the drainage underneath is good, then the urine can drain off well. However, if the surface underneath is impermeable, a concrete flooring for example, the urine accumulates under the mats, and may produce unpleasant smell. The unpleasant smell can affect the horse overall health, so next time you fix a horse stable make sure you have a good drainage system plan.

What Bulldogs Learn During A Training

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

Having a well trained pet can be rewarding to pet owners. A compliment from your visitors on how wonderful and obedient your bulldog is can be an achievement for you and your pet. Training your pet may take time but the result is all worth it. If you do not have the time or knowledge to train a dog, you can enrol them in American Bulldog training.

American Bulldog training will help dogs how to be well disciplined. The first thing that they will learn is toilet training. During the training itself, bulldogs learn that the toilet is located outside. At home, you should designate a specific place which will serve as their toilet. Over time, they will get used to it and whenever they feel the need to pee or poo, they will look for this place to do their thing. Another thing that they will learn is how to sit, lay down, shake a paw and walk nicely on the leash. Through socialization, they will learn who their friends and enemies are. Exposed them frequently to friends and relatives so that they will regard them as companions and will not be aggressive towards them.
